Hi VMTC Members,

Bushwalking Victoria has published a Bushwalking Manual at https://bushwalkingmanual.org.au . It has been developed from the old Bushwalking and Ski Touring Leadership manual last updated in 2000. But whereas that manual focused on Victorian conditions the new manual has sections on every state in Australia.

The manual was developed by experienced bushwalkers and had input from all the state bushwalking associations. Duncan Brookes from the VMTC was a member of the Project Team that produced the manual.

The manual is for anyone who is interested in learning more about bushwalking. The manual caters for novices starting bushwalking through to experienced bushwalkers and trip leaders. The manual also allows readers to send in feedback or any other suggestions. The team are also looking for photos to illustrate the content and you can send appropriate photos to them.

Back in 2009, Peter Briggs wrote an article called “Snake Attack – The Full Tail”. It describes an unpleasant encounter with a Tiger snake and what can be learned from it.

Just a reminder that our VMTC Social Nights are currently on ZOOM.

Once we are able to get back to physical meetings (on the 3rd Thursday night each month starting at 7.30 pm ) we will alternate both ZOOM and physical club nights.

Our club rooms are open to all ( you do not have to be a member to attend our Social Nights). However, at this stage you do need to be a member or prospective member to receive the ZOOM invitation.
